Curriculum

Our school is a Core Knowledge School. Basically, students will be provided with equity in education. We will give every child what he needs to learn to the best of his or her ability. Core knowledge intends to bridge the differences among students by developing the commonalities. An attempt to "level the playing field" in education, teachers will rely on a wealth of resources to spiral educational objectives from prekindergarten to grade 12. Be sure to grab your free copy of What your 5th grader needs to know, edited by E.D.Hirsch, availabel at the parent coordinator office, room 201.

Everyday Math Curriculum for Grade 5 was developed by the Chicago Mathematics Project. It is designed to level the playing field for students of various backgrounds and learning styles. Your child will work with manipulatives and learn mathematics through exploration.

Much of the work we do this year will involve technology. Our lessons should extend beyond the classroom. There are tons of computer software available that children can use at home. See my review of Oregon Trail below!
